We are looking for a Freelance IT Support / Network Field Engineer to provide onsite hands-and-feet support at a client site in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The engineer will assist with network hardware installation, cabling, device replacement, rack-and-stack activities, testing, and basic troubleshooting under the direction of remote L2/L3 technical teams

Key Responsibilitie

s

* Receive, verify, unpack, stage, and prepare network hardware and components

.* Validate hardware against the provided Bill of Materials (BoM) and document serial numbers

.* Rack, stack, install, move, add, and change network equipment

.* Perform hardware installation and de-installation, including associated cabling

.* Install, replace, and patch copper and fiber network cables

.* Perform inter-rack and intra-rack network patching

.* Install and replace SFPs/modules and other network components as required

.* Assist with console access and provide physical support for network devices

.* Perform cable dressing, labeling, tagging, and organization within racks

.* Support Wireless Access Point (AP) replacement, including removal of old APs, installation of new APs, and network cable patching

.* Perform power and cable checks

.* Support hardware/component upgrades and faulty component swaps

.* Assist with functionality testing of network devices

.* Provide basic LAN/WLAN troubleshooting under remote L2/L3 supervision

.* Support cutover and hypercare activities as directed by the remote technical team

.* Coordinate with onsite vendors, hardware maintenance providers, and telecom suppliers when required

.* Prepare faulty components and packaging materials for disposal/return as instructed

.* Join remote review/bridge calls with the client and technical teams during installation and cutover activities

.* Perform other basic onsite IT/network support activities as directed by remote engineers

Required Skill

s

* Hands-on experience in IT Support, Network Support, Data Center Support, or Field Services

.* Experience with rack & stack of network equipment

.* Basic knowledge of LAN/WLAN and network connectivity

.* Experience with copper and fiber cabling and patching

.* Ability to identify network hardware, cables, SFPs, and related components

.* Comfortable working with remote L2/L3 engineers and following technical instructions

.* Good troubleshooting and documentation skills

.* Ability to work independently at a client site

.* Professional communication and customer-facing skills

Preferred Experienc

e

* Cisco or other enterprise network equipment

.* Data center / communication room experience

.* Switches, routers, wireless access points, patch panels, SFPs, and network cabling

.* Console connectivity and basic network troubleshooting

.* Previous Smart Hands / Hands & Feet support experience
