About the Role:

The Staff Accountant plays a core role in month-end close execution, balance sheet account reconciliations, and technical accounting schedule management. Operating within a multi-entity global environment, this position leads multi-currency bank reconciliations, maintains lease (ASC 842) and debt amortization schedules, performs AR subledger tie-outs, and leverages AI-driven tools to enhance accounting workflows and financial accuracy.

Note: This is a remote, contractor role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Month-End Close Execution: Prepare and review journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and dynamically pivot across close tasks to meet team reporting deadlines.
• Banking & Clearing Reconciliations: Own daily and monthly multi-entity bank reconciliations across global accounts (JPM, Truist, Tipalti clearing), maintaining zero unallocated balances.
• Technical Schedules & Debt: Build and maintain schedules for ASC 842 lease compliance, loan/debt amortizations, and fixed asset depreciation/capitalizations.
• AR Control & Tie-Outs: Reconcile Accounts Receivable subledgers against the General Ledger, collaborating closely with the Cash Application team to resolve variances and unapplied cash.
• AI & Process Optimization: Implement AI software and modern automation techniques to refine SOP documentation, accelerate variance investigations, and increase monthly close efficiency.
• Audit & Reporting Support: Prepare schedules, confirmations, and general ledger support for external audits and internal management reviews.
• Cross-Functional Projects: Partner with internal teams (AP, Cash App, Treasury) and assist the Controller and Finance Lead on special financial projects as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

• 5+ years of progressive General Ledger accounting experience in multi-entity, global corporate environments.
• Strong technical GAAP knowledge.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, prompt engineering) to optimize financial analysis, build advanced Excel models, and automate repetitive tasks.
• Proficiency in ERP systems.
• Proven experience executing multi-currency, multi-entity bank reconciliations
• Advanced Excel capabilities (pivot tables, complex lookup functions, data modeling).
• High operational agility—a proactive team player able to rapidly pivot between tasks and assist across all month-end close priorities.
