Network Engineer

Support secure, highly available enterprise networks underpinning critical Federal Government services.

As a Network Engineer with Kinetic IT, you’ll work hands-on across routing, switching, firewalls, network security and connectivity services—from low-level design and configuration through to implementation, operational support and lifecycle improvement. This role is 100% within a secure environment and requires an active NV2 Australian Government security clearance.

This is a hands-on engineering role with scope to influence network standards, hardening, resilience and tooling. You’ll make technical decisions, lead difficult fault investigations and act as an escalation point for engineers supporting the environment.

What you’ll be doing:

• Design, configure, implement and support Cisco enterprise routing, switching, firewall and connectivity services across LAN, WAN and data-centre environments.
• Build resilient network solutions using high-availability patterns, redundancy and capacity planning to protect performance and service uptime.
• Harden network infrastructure, remediate vulnerabilities and maintain secure configurations in line with technical standards and risk requirements.
• Maintain network diagrams, low-level designs, configuration standards, implementation plans and operational documentation.
• Lead technical escalations, peer reviews and knowledge sharing, working with engineers, vendors and stakeholders to deliver supportable solutions.

What we’re looking for:

• Australian Citizenship and an active high level Australian Government security clearance (NV2).
• Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise network infrastructure across complex, highly available data-centre environments, including integration with Windows Server and Microsoft Active Directory services.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, routing protocols, switching, firewalls, NAT, VPNs and network segmentation.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills using network monitoring platforms, logs, packet capture tools and structured root-cause analysis.
• Practical capability across network security, hardening, vulnerability remediation, change control and operational risk.
