Network Engineer – Fortinet & Cybersecurity

MedCo Data, LLC is seeking a Network Engineer to design, maintain, and secure networks for our healthcare clients. This role is a fit for someone who can lead a Fortinet deployment, troubleshoot a difficult connectivity issue, and explain the solution clearly to a practice administrator.

What you’ll do

• Configure and manage Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, security policies, and related services.
• Design and support client networks, including switching, wireless, VLANs, routing, and site-to-site connectivity.
• Investigate security alerts, identify vulnerabilities, and help contain and resolve incidents.
• Strengthen client environments through network segmentation, secure remote access, patching, monitoring, and backup coordination.
• Troubleshoot network and security issues across multiple client environments.
• Document configurations, changes, diagrams, and incident findings.
• Work with our help desk, vendors, and client teams to plan improvements and resolve escalations.
• Manage our data center infrastructure as well as oversee our clients'
• Manage our SEIM environment, internal and client focused

What we’re looking for

• Hands-on experience (5 years or more) administering Fortinet FortiGate firewalls in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and wireless networking.
• A solid cybersecurity background, including firewall policy design, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, logging, and incident response.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
• Sound judgment, careful documentation, and the ability to communicate with both technical and nontechnical people.
• Bachelors degree preferred.

Experience with FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, HIPAA-regulated environments, or managed service providers is a plus. Fortinet certifications are welcome, but demonstrated ability matters most.
