What they need
Are you hands-on, reliable, and ready to help build something that truly connects communities? Do you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and being part of a growing team that keeps people connected?
Socket is looking for a Network Fiber Technician I to join our field operations team. In this role, you'll install, maintain, and repair fiber lines and systems that deliver high-speed internet to homes and businesses across our expanding network. From bucket trucks to problem-solving, you’ll help power the infrastructure that fuels the future—and our communities.
This is a great fit for someone who’s mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
A Day in the Life
You’ll start your day reviewing scheduled installs or repairs, loading up your equipment, and heading into the field. One job may require you to pull fiber to a new home, while the next has you up in the bucket truck making aerial repairs. Throughout the day, you’ll coordinate with dispatch, document your work, and make sure everything is completed safely and correctly. Whether it’s installing new service or restoring downed lines, your work directly impacts the quality of life for our customers.
What You’ll Do
Key responsibilities include:
Install, maintain, and repair mainline and service fiber cables and related equipment
Familiarity with bucket truck operation for occasional backup work
Be prepared to dispatch to trouble ticket issues to resolve problems and help customers get back online
Follow all safety protocols and standards on every job site
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
Provide responsive, courteous service during installations or repairs
Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs as part of daily tasks
Show up consistently and ready to work in all weather conditions
What Will Help You Stand Out
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in fiber, construction, or utility work
Basic splicing knowledge
Some college or technical training preferred
Prior experience with aerial construction or working from a bucket truck
Flexible and solutions-oriented when challenges arise
Comfortable working independently or with a small team
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you'll need the following required qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Ability to lift 50-70 lbs
Ability to follow safety procedures and perform physically demanding tasks
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Self-motivated and dependable
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-moving environment
