Network Infrastructure Engineer (Mining)

An established North American mining company specialising in precious metals production is seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer to support its corporate IT function and network infrastructure across multiple operating locations in the United States and Canada.

With a portfolio of producing mines and development assets, the business operates across geographically dispersed and often remote locations where reliable communications and network connectivity are essential. Its IT infrastructure supports everything from corporate systems and cloud environments through to mine-site communications and industrial operations.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on networking position offering responsibility for enterprise infrastructure across a geographically dispersed mining business, rather than a single corporate office or facility.

As the incoming Network Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for the networks connecting corporate offices, remote mining operations and cloud environments. That means everything from routing, switching and firewalls through to wireless infrastructure, WAN/SD-WAN, VPNs and hybrid cloud connectivity.

A significant part of the role involves improving how that infrastructure is managed. You'll help establish consistent technical standards, introduce structured maintenance cycles and strengthen network reliability and security across multiple locations.

You'll work closely with cybersecurity, systems administration and site-based IT teams, including supporting networks within industrial operating environments. The right person will be technically strong, comfortable working independently and capable of bringing a practical, structured approach to managing complex enterprise networks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across corporate offices and remote mining operations.
• Oversee routing, switching, firewalls, wireless networks, WAN/SD-WAN, VPNs and cloud connectivity.
• Improve network performance, security and reliability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Develop network standards, configuration procedures and documentation to improve consistency across operating locations.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and site IT teams to support secure connectivity across corporate and industrial environments.
• Support infrastructure upgrades, network hardware lifecycle management and ongoing ITSM improvements.

Key Requirements:

• 5+ years' experience in network administration or engineering within an enterprise or multi-site environment.
• Strong technical experience across routing, switching, enterprise firewalls, wireless infrastructure and WAN connectivity.
• Experience with network security, segmentation, VPNs and troubleshooting
• Ability to establish structured network processes, maintenance procedures and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking and ITSM/ITIL practices advantageous
• Exposure to mining, manufacturing, utilities or other industrial environments beneficial, but not essential.
• Experience with operational technology (OT) networks and relevant networking certifications considered an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and across multiple teams.
