Position: Network Maintenance Engineer

Location: Kyoto, Japan

Position type : Full-time contract

Roles & Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site resource for network maintenance and field support activities.
• Perform hands-on support tasks including power cycling, cable patching, hardware checks, and physical inspections.
• Execute structured cabling activities, wiring modifications, port mapping, labelling, and post-maintenance verification.
• Assist remote L2 and L3 teams during troubleshooting, cutovers, validation activities, and hypercare support.
• Coordinate with customer IT teams, site managers, carriers, OEMs, and field service providers to ensure timely incident resolution.
• Support LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, switches, routers, wireless access points, and related network infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys, physical readiness assessments, rack-and-stack verification, equipment decommissioning, and disposal coordination.
• Capture and maintain site documentation, including photographs, serial numbers, asset information, port details, and closure evidence.
• Escalate operational risks, site access challenges, safety concerns, and unresolved incidents through established escalation channels.
• Provide multilingual coordination and support across customer sites and regional stakeholders.

Required Skills

Networking

• Strong hands-on experience in on-site network support, field maintenance, or enterprise network deployments.

Good understanding of:

• LAN / WAN
• WLAN
• SD-WAN
• Routing & Switching
• VLANs
• Access Layer Troubleshooting
• Experience supporting enterprise network devices under remote technical guidance.

Knowledge of:

• Device replacement
• Cable tracing and verification
• Patch management
• Rack & stack activities
• Wireless Access Point installation and support

Education & Experience

• Experience required: 5-8 years
• Bachelor's in engineering or a similar degree
