What they need

Marlborough Lines is the electricity distribution company that powers the Marlborough region. Owned by local consumers through the Marlborough Electric Power Trust, we are committed to delivering reliable electricity while investing in the future of our community.

With around 170 employees based in Blenheim, we are helping lead the region through a period of significant change as electrification, renewable energy, and new technologies reshape the energy sector. Guided by our vision of Energising Marlborough’s Future, we offer meaningful work, great people, and the opportunity to make a real impact in a region renowned for its lifestyle, natural beauty, and world-class wine industry.

We're looking for an experienced Network Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in delivering projects that keep Marlborough's electricity network safe, reliable, and ready for the future.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you'll be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of network projects from planning through to delivery. Working closely with engineers, designers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

You'll also contribute to the future development of Marlborough's network by:

  • Managing infrastructure projects from concept through to completion
  • Developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and tender documentation
  • Coordinating contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Analysing network condition and criticality data to identify and prioritise future investment projects
  • Supporting the development of MLL's Capital Expenditure Programme and Asset Management Plan
  • Contributing to a strong health, safety, and wellbeing culture across the business.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who bring:

  • A trade qualification, diploma, or degree
  • Proven experience managing infrastructure projects
  • Strong project management skills and commercial awareness
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • A good understanding of electricity distribution infrastructure or other utility networks
  • A current driver's licence.

Experience within the electricity industry and formal project management qualifications would be advantageous, but are not essential.

As part of our team, you'll enjoy:

  • A competitive salary that recognises your skills and experience
  • Southern Cross health insurance for peace of mind
  • Life, income protection, and critical illness insurance to help protect what matters most
  • Access to a range of employee discounts and benefits
  • A paid day off to celebrate your birthday
  • An award-winning health and wellbeing programme, including free health checks, skin checks, and an annual wellbeing allowance to spend on what supports you best
  • The stability and security that comes from working for an essential service provider
  • Ongoing opportunities to learn, develop, and be part of the future of the energy industry

Beyond the benefits, you'll have the opportunity to be part of something bigger. Whether it's supporting local initiatives, investing in our communities, enabling regional growth, or helping shape New Zealand's energy future, you'll be making a positive difference for Marlborough every day.

Join us and help energise Marlborough's future

As part of our recruitment process, the successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a criminal record check. We are currently considering applications from candidates who are based in New Zealand and hold the legal right to work here.
