Network Security Automation Engineer

Workplace: Porto (Hybrid)

Role:

• Design and develop end-to-end Python/Django workflows that automate the request, validation, approval, and provisioning of firewall rules on FortiGate and NSX-T;
• Develop and maintain robust API connectors to seamlessly orchestrate changes across FortiManager/FortiOS and NSX-T Managers;
• Implement pre-change validation (syntax, conflict detection) and safe rollback mechanisms (idempotency) to ensure zero disruption to production traffic;
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests for the automation codebase and ensure all generated firewall rules strictly adhere to internal security policies and compliance requirements;
• Document code, API contracts, and workflow designs to ensure a seamless transition to internal NetSecOps teams.

Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field;
• Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in similar roles;
• Advanced experience with Python 3 and Django framework (or REST Framework);
• Experience with asynchronous task queues (e.g., Celery / Redis) for managing long-running network operations;
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitLab CI/GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles;
• Strong knowledge of FortiGate (FortiOS) and VMware NSX-T architectures;
• Practical experience automating firewall policies, address objects, and security groups through the FortiManager API (JSON-RPC/REST) and NSX-T Policy API;
• Good understanding of enterprise routing, switching, zoning, and micro-segmentation concepts;
• Fluency in English;
• Good communication and teamwork skills;
• Good organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
