Build and Activate Business-Critical Network Services
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a growing fiber and telecommunications infrastructure organization to hire a Telecommunications Network Engineer for its North Texas engineering team.
This role is ideal for a network professional who has already built a solid foundation in routing and switching and wants to deepen their experience within a carrier-grade environment. You’ll work directly with Ethernet and IP-based services, complete network configurations, support customer circuit activations, and help ensure that network records match the live environment.
This is not a traditional corporate IT or desktop-support position. The strongest candidates will bring hands-on experience with routers, switches, telecommunications circuits, and Layer 2 or Layer 3 services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Configure and validate Ethernet, MPLS, and EVPL services across Cisco and Juniper network environments
- Support BGP and IS-IS routing for customer-facing and backbone connectivity
- Troubleshoot configuration issues across Layer 2 and Layer 3 services
- Partner with provisioning and network operations teams during circuit activations, service migrations, and customer turn-ups
- Coordinate testing and activation activities with internal teams and customers
- Compare circuit designs and network records against live device configurations
- Maintain accurate circuit, equipment, and service information within network inventory and monitoring platforms
- Research and correct discrepancies across network systems, designs, and operational records
- Support disconnects, decommissions, and other service-lifecycle changes
- Participate in planned overnight maintenance windows when network changes must be completed outside regular business hours
- Document network changes, troubleshooting findings, configurations, and completed work
- Escalate advanced technical issues while continuing to build knowledge alongside senior engineers
What We’re Looking For
- At least three years of professional network engineering or telecommunications experience
- Hands-on experience configuring or troubleshooting carrier Ethernet, MPLS, EVPL, or comparable Layer 2 services
- Working knowledge of BGP and IS-IS or related Layer 3 routing technologies
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or comparable network platforms
- Understanding of customer circuit activation, testing, migration, or turn-up processes
- Experience working with network inventory, mapping, or monitoring systems
- Ability to read technical designs and identify differences between documentation and live configurations
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in scheduled overnight maintenance work when required
- Associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
Helpful, but Not Required
- Experience with Carma, 3-GIS, SiteTracker, SolarWinds, or a similar network platform
- Exposure to Python or Ansible for network automation
- Familiarity with DWDM or Ciena optical platforms
- CCNA, JNCIA, or a comparable networking certification
- Previous experience within a telecommunications carrier, fiber provider, ISP, NOC, or service-provider environment
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Gain deeper exposure to a large and expanding fiber network
- Work with both customer-facing and backbone network services
- Build experience across provisioning, activation, operations, and engineering
- Collaborate with experienced network, field, design, and project teams
- Develop valuable carrier-network expertise beyond traditional enterprise IT
- Join an organization investing in network growth and service delivery
If you have hands-on routing and switching experience and want to grow your career in telecommunications network engineering, LHH would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
