JOB DESCRIPTION

Play a vital role in helping patients receive accurate diagnoses and timely treatment for complex neuromuscular conditions. As a Neurodiagnostic 2 (EMG) Technologist at UVA Health, you will combine advanced technical expertise with compassionate patient care while working alongside leading neurology and neuromuscular specialists in a collaborative academic medical center environment.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced R.NCS.T.-credentialed professional seeking meaningful clinical impact, professional growth, and the chance to contribute to a growing neurodiagnostic program. You will join a supportive team where your expertise is valued, your contributions are recognized, and your work directly influences patient care decisions.

The Role

As a Neurodiagnostic 2 (EMG) Technologist, you will perform specialized diagnostic testing that supports the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. Working primarily in an outpatient setting with occasional inpatient responsibilities, you will care for both adult and pediatric patients while collaborating closely with physicians, fellows, and fellow clinical team members.

In a typical day, you will:

  • Independently perform nerve conduction studies on adult and pediatric patients.
  • Assist providers during electromyography (EMG) and neuromuscular ultrasound procedures.
  • Prepare patients for testing, explain procedures, and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Review orders, collect and document patient information, and support efficient clinic operations.
  • Maintain diagnostic equipment, exam rooms, and laboratory readiness.
  • Monitor supplies and inventory while helping ensure smooth clinic workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and care teams regarding study progress and findings.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and support quality and compliance standards.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced technologists as your expertise grows within the department.

This role is ideal for a technologist who enjoys balancing hands-on patient care, technical excellence, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced clinical environment.
