Job Description:

Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Surgical

Full-Time | 1.0 FTE | Renton, Washington

Valley Medical Center (VMC) is seeking a full-time Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our collaborative Neurosurgery team in Renton, Washington.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside three experienced neurosurgeons and a dedicated APP team while providing patient-centered, team-based care to a diverse patient population. Our supportive leadership fosters an environment built on collaboration, respect, professional growth, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of our patients.

As part of the VMC team, you'll have access to system-wide resources and the opportunity to work closely with surgeons, APPs, nurses, and other multidisciplinary colleagues across the continuum of neurosurgical care.

We are proud participants in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

About the Position

This is a surgical Neurosurgery APP role with responsibilities spanning inpatient care, clinic coverage, and the operating room.

  • Schedule: 4*10-hour or 5*8-hour shifts
  • Weekend coverage: Inpatient rounding and hospital coverage, including first-contact text/Voalte communication, with approximately one weekend every six weeks
  • Inpatient rounding: Approximately 2-12 patients per day, depending on census and clinical needs
  • Clinic: Approximately 2-5 clinic days per week, based on patient volume and coverage needs
  • Operating room: Approximately 1-6 cases, depending on surgical schedule
  • Support three neurosurgeons, with flexibility to provide clinic coverage and accommodate add-on postoperative or symptom-check visits as needed
  • Participate equitably in call, Voalte messaging, inpatient rounding, and coverage responsibilities within the APP/provider team
  • Maintain flexibility to assist with surgery on additional days when mutually agreed upon in advance, particularly to support APP vacation or illness coverage

This position offers meaningful variety across the neurosurgical care continuum, including inpatient management, postoperative care, clinic evaluation, and surgical first-assist responsibilities.

What We're Looking For

We welcome experienced APPs as well as new graduates who are interested in developing a career in neurosurgery.

Qualifications

  • Current or eligible Washington State NP or PA license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DEA registration with full prescriptive authority
  • Nurse Practitioners: Must have, or have the ability and plan to obtain, Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credentials
  • Strong interest in surgical and neurosurgical patient care
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Willingness to participate in shared inpatient, call, messaging, and surgical coverage responsibilities
  • Strong communication, organization, and clinical judgment

New graduates are encouraged to apply.
