Night Chemist

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a hands-on Night Chemist to support our Medicinal Chemistry and Kilo Lab operations during night shifts. The role will be responsible for monitoring chemical reactions, maintaining reaction progress, supporting work-up and isolation activities, and ensuring safe and accurate handover of ongoing reactions and process activities to the day team.

The position requires practical chemistry skills/knowledge, attention to detail, adherence to safety and documentation requirements, and the ability to work independently during the night shift.

Preferred candidate profile

• Provide overnight reaction support for Medicinal Chemistry and Kilo Lab activities.
• Monitor ongoing reactions and record reaction parameters, observations and progress at defined intervals.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, reaction sheets, logbooks and other required documentation.
• Identify abnormal reaction behavior, deviations or safety concerns and immediately escalate them to the appropriate supervisor/project chemist.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring of temperature, pressure, addition rates, agitation and other critical reaction parameters, as applicable.
• Conduct proper shift handover to the day team, including reaction status, analytical results, pending activities, observations and any concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping and readiness of the laboratory.
• Follow applicable EHS, GMP/GLP, quality, documentation and site procedures.
• Coordinate with Medicinal Chemistry, Process Chemistry, Analytical and other supporting functions as required.
• Support troubleshooting and optimization activities under the guidance of senior chemists.
• Ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures and laboratory safety requirements.
