Night Porter – Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Night Porter to join our vibrant hospitality team. The ideal candidate will be friendly, reliable, professional, and physically capable, with a passion for providing excellent guest service throughout the night.

As a Night Porter, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of our guests during overnight hours. You will assist with late check-ins, guest enquiries, reception duties, overnight hotel operations, and the setup and dismantling of function and conference rooms.

Duties

• Welcome and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner during the night.
• Manage late-night guest check-ins and early-morning check-outs efficiently.
• Provide excellent customer service and ensure guests have a comfortable stay
• Handle payments and cash/card transactions accurately when required.
• Carry out regular checks of the hotel to ensure guest safety and security.
• Respond promptly and professionally to any overnight guest issues or emergencies.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and professional reception area.
• Complete overnight administrative and reception duties as required.
• Prepare the reception area and hotel for the morning team.
• Complete necessary overnight cleaning and general hotel duties.
• Set up tables, chairs, and other furniture for functions, weddings, meetings, conferences, and events according to the required layout.
• Dismantle function and conference room setups after events, including moving tables and chairs and returning rooms to their required layout.
• Ensure function and conference rooms are clean, tidy, and ready for guests or the next day's events.
• Manage time effectively and work independently during overnight hours.
• Support fellow team members and contribute to a positive working environment.
• Follow all hotel health, safety, security, and operational procedures.
• Report any maintenance issues, damage, or health and safety concerns to the appropriate manager.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the hotel.

Experience

• Previous hotel reception, front desk, night porter, events, or hospitality experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of the Guestline system is desirable, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
• Ability to work independently and remain calm and professional during overnight hours.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Physically capable of moving tables, chairs, and other event equipment safely.
• A professional, friendly, and approachable attitude with a strong focus on guest service.
• Basic computer and administrative skills are essential.
• Reliable and punctual, with the flexibility required for overnight work.

Working Hours

• 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• 4 days on / 4 days off
• 8-hour overnight shifts
• The role may involve late-night function breakdowns and preparing rooms for events taking place the following day.
