About Bridmet

We’re a UK-based, ISO 9001-accredited manufacturer of metal components and assemblies. Combining traditional craftsmanship and quality workmanship with modern manufacturing methods, we deliver high-quality products and services to our customers.

At Bridmet, quality, precision and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

As a CNC Machining Operator, you’ll play an important role in our manufacturing team, setting and operating CNC machinery to produce components accurately and efficiently in line with engineering drawings and specifications.

You’ll prepare materials, set up and prove out jobs, monitor machining processes and inspect finished components to ensure they meet our quality requirements.

You’ll initially spend up to four weeks working on the day shift, becoming familiar with our machinery, production processes, quality standards and systems while working alongside the wider team. Following this onboarding period, you’ll move onto nights, where you’ll be expected to manage your workload with a high degree of independence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Setting and operating CNC machines to meet production requirements and allocated timescales.
  • Preparing and loading raw materials onto machines.
  • Setting up and proving out jobs to ensure components are produced to the required specifications.
  • Monitoring machines during production and making adjustments where necessary.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, mechanical documentation and production instructions.
  • Inspecting and measuring finished components using Vernier calipers, micrometers and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Ensuring components consistently meet drawing specifications and customer quality requirements.
  • Carrying out daily machine checks and basic maintenance to keep equipment safe and functional.
  • Identifying and reporting quality, production or machine issues promptly.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Following company procedures relating to quality, health and safety, and production.
  • Taking responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues.
  • Working effectively both independently and as part of the wider production team.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an experienced CNC machinist who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality components and has the technical ability to work independently.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • An engineering apprenticeship or several years of relevant CNC machining experience.
  • Proven experience setting and operating CNC lathes and vertical machining centres.
  • The ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience using precision inspection equipment, such as Vernier calipers and micrometers.
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to quality.
  • A practical, results-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively, particularly on night shifts.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work constructively with colleagues, supervisors and other departments.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.

Shift Pattern and Flexibility

As part of the initial onboarding process, you’ll work on the day shift for up to four weeks to become familiar with our machinery, production processes, quality requirements, systems and procedures before moving onto nights.

Due to the changing operational needs of the business, employees may be required to work alternative shifts, including day shifts or other shift patterns, where reasonably necessary to meet business requirements. Any changes to shift patterns will be communicated in advance and managed in accordance with the terms of employment and applicable employment legislation.

Interested?

If you have the CNC machining experience, technical ability and attention to detail we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
