Night shift veterinary assistance

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Nurse for overnight shifts to join our team. The role involves overnight shift work (9:00pm to 9:00am) 4 days per week, providing critical patient care, assisting veterinarians, and managing emergency situations during night hours.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously monitor hospitalized, critical, or post-surgical patients through the night, assessing vital signs (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, etc) and recording changes accurately
• Administer precise doses of medications, IV fluids, injections, and specialized treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
• Assist veterinarians during patient consultations, client communication, and physical examinations
• Assist veterinarians with taking X-rays and performing blood tests or other laboratory diagnostics as needed during the shift
• Assist veterinarians professionally during surgical procedures, medical treatments and emergency interventions
• Handle emergency admission and critical triage promptly through the night
• Manage pain control, provide comfortable bedding, assist with feeding, and ensure proper hygiene and sanitation for all recovering animals
• Maintain, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments, medical equipment, and treatment areas for the upcoming day
• Provide a detailed, professional shift handover report to the day-shift veterinary team regarding each patient's overnight status

About you

• Minimum 3+ years of proven working experience as a veterinary nurse, specifically with overnight shift experience
• Fluent in both English and Chinese (able to communicate, read, and write professionally in both languages for team collaboration and client communication)
• Highly responsible, reliable, and capable of working independently with strong problem-solving skills during the night shift
