Night Supervisor

About the role

The Night Shelter is a 7-day a week operation. Hospitality is offered every night of the year, from 6pm – 9am. The Night Supervisor welcomes guests who are provided with an evening meal, a safe warm bed for the night, and good company. There are showers and clothes washing facilities. After breakfast in the morning there is cut lunch to take away. Clothing is provided if needed. For the safety of all, those drunk or on drugs are not admitted. The Night Supervisor provides night-time supervision of the Night Shelter. Each shift is from 6:00pm to 9:00am the next morning and this role is 2 nights per week.

Key responsibilities

• Arrive on-site just prior to 6.00pm for days worked

• Check each individual has completed the DNST guest induction form

• Ensure the required administrative records (Day Notes, Guest Record) etc are maintained on a daily basis

• Ensure preparation and supervision of evening meals

• Ensure supervision of breakfast so guests can vacate premises by 9.00am next morning

• Refer guests to DNST morning staff for additional support

• Provide clothing and personal care items to guests as appropriate and when available

• Change sheets on beds and do laundry as required each morning

• Diligently, faithfully and to the best of your abilities, carry out the duties of the position
• Take all practical steps to ensure your own safety while at work and that no action by you, while at work, causes harm to any other person
• Know and comply with the employer's health and safety rules and procedures
• Maintain strict confidentiality and high standards of integrity and personal conduct
