What they need

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled NOC Tier 2 Technician to join our dynamic network operations team. As a NOC Tier 2 Technician at Kryonyx, you will operate within our Network Operations Center (NOC), providing advanced network engineering, operations, and both first- and second-level technical support across Kryonyx's client base. This role combines advanced network engineering and operations — including firewall, routing, switching, VPN, and wireless management across primarily Fortinet and other vendor platforms — with hands-on technical support and escalation handling.

Duties

  • Monitor network and infrastructure health and respond to alerts and events from RMM, network monitoring, and management platforms, triaging incidents in accordance with established procedures and SLA commitments.
  • Administer, configure, and troubleshoot firewall and network security infrastructure — primarily Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiAP, FortiSwitch, FortiAnalyzer / FortiManager) and other vendor platforms as deployed in client environments — including security policies, NAT, security profiles, and VPN configuration.
  • Manage routing, switching, VLAN design, and network segmentation across client environments.
  • Configure and maintain site-to-site VPNs (IPsec), SSL and remote-access VPNs, and related secure connectivity infrastructure.
  • Administer wireless network infrastructure, including access points, SSID configuration, and wireless security controls.
  • Perform network performance monitoring, capacity planning, and optimization activities to ensure reliability and meet client SLAs.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute network changes and maintenance activities following proper change management procedures and approved maintenance windows.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for network outages and degradations, coordinating with internet service providers, carriers, and other vendors as required.
  • Maintain accurate and current network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration backups, IP schemas, and device inventories in approved documentation systems.

Join us as a NOC Tier 2 Technician and become a key player in delivering reliable IT solutions! Your technical expertise will empower our organization’s digital backbone while providing top-tier support that keeps operations running smoothly. We value innovation, teamwork, and dedication—if you’re passionate about advancing your career in network operations and IT support, we want to hear from you!

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a technical support, network operations, or network engineering role, preferably in a Tier 2 or equivalent position.
  • Fortinet certifications (NSE 4 or higher) are strongly preferred; Microsoft, Cisco, and other relevant industry certifications are a plus.
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, IPsec and SSL VPNs, wireless networking, and firewall administration.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and troubleshooting Fortinet (FortiGate) firewall infrastructure in production environments; familiarity with other vendor firewall and network platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with network monitoring, RMM, and management platforms, including alert triage and incident response workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret packet captures (Wireshark or equivalent) and use diagnostic tools to isolate complex network issues.
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware, software, and server concepts.
  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems and common business applications (Microsoft 365, productivity suites).
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting desktops, laptops, servers, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, user and group management, Group Policy, and related identity and access management concepts.
  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical peers and non-technical client stakeholders.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills appropriate for direct interaction with client stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to handle complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Strong documentation skills and discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering a positive client experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physical infrastructure environments when on-site support is required.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a functioning motor vehicle for travel to client job sites as required.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on, fast-paced MSP environment.
