NPD Engineer – Job Description

Job Title: NPD Engineer / New Product Development Engineer

Experience:
Typically 1–5 years in NPD, product development, production engineering, or a related manufacturing role

Job Summary:
Responsible for developing new products from concept to production, coordinating with design, manufacturing, quality, purchase, and suppliers to ensure products meet customer requirements, cost, quality, and delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Study customer requirements and product specifications.
• Develop new products and improve existing products.
• Prepare and review 2D/3D CAD drawings and product specifications.
• Coordinate prototype development and testing.
• Work with production and tooling teams during product trials.
• Coordinate with suppliers for components, materials, and tooling.
• Prepare BOM, ECN/ECR, APQP, PPAP, and other NPD documents as required.
• Conduct design reviews and identify manufacturing issues.
• Support product validation, testing, and quality approvals.
• Troubleshoot development and production-related issues.
• Ensure projects meet cost, quality, and timeline targets.
• Maintain project documentation and development records.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• CAD knowledge such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, etc.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC is an advantage.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Qualification:

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, or related engineering.
