Npd Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end New Product Development (NPD) activities from RFQ to SOP (Start of Production).
• Analyze customer drawings, technical specifications, and product requirements.
• Develop manufacturing feasibility and process flow for new products.
• Plan and establish manufacturing processes for sheet metal and fabricated components.
• Coordinate with Design, Production, Tool Room, Quality, Purchase, and Customer teams for smooth project execution.
• Prepare APQP documents including Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Work Instructions.
• Ensure timely development and validation of tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges.
• Monitor project timelines and ensure successful execution within budget and delivery schedules.
• Drive cost reduction, productivity improvement, and process optimization initiatives.
• Resolve manufacturing and process-related issues during product development.
• Ensure compliance with customer standards, quality requirements, and automotive industry norms.
• Lead trial production, pilot runs, PPAP submission, and production handover.
• Conduct technical reviews and regular project status meetings with internal and customer teams.
• Mentor and guide the NPD team to achieve departmental objectives.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of Sheet Metal Manufacturing Processes.
• Expertise in Fabrication Processes such as:
• MIG Welding
• Spot Welding
• Robotic Welding
• Hands-on knowledge of:
• Press Shop Operations
• Sheet Metal Forming
• Bending
• Laser Cutting
• CNC Punching
• Fabrication
• Assembly Processes
• Knowledge of Tool Development, Dies, Fixtures, and Gauges.
• Good understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office.
