NPI ENGINEER

About the role

We are seeking a talented NPI Engineer to join TECHMAN ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. in Bukit Minyak, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the successful introduction of new products into our manufacturing operations. As an NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between product design and full-scale production, ensuring that new products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards. This role is strategically important to our company's ability to innovate and deliver products to market on schedule whilst maintaining operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to develop comprehensive NPI strategies and timelines for new product launches
• Conduct design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews to identify potential production challenges and optimise product designs for manufacturing efficiency
• Develop and refine manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production procedures for new products
• Conduct process capability studies and statistical analysis to ensure new manufacturing processes meet specification requirements
• Oversee tooling and fixture design, procurement, and validation to support new product production
• Coordinate pilot production runs, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure smooth transition to full production
• Prepare detailed project documentation, including process flows, control plans, risk assessments, and quality assurance protocols
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure materials, components, and equipment meet our specifications and delivery schedules
• Monitor production performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
• Provide technical support during the initial production phase and troubleshoot any manufacturing-related issues

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering roles within the electronics or related manufacturing industries
• Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and best practices
• Proficiency in using CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools
• Excellent understanding of mechanical assembly processes, precision machining, and quality control standards
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, and quality management systems
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Preferred: Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other relevant quality standards
• Preferred: Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
