We are currently seeking a NPI Engineer to be based in Valley Green, PA, serving as a technical bridge between our US and China teams.
Core Position Objective:
As the technical onsite representative for SAA in US, this role is responsible for seamless engineering-level communication with internal US Business Units (located in Nashua, NH and Valley Green, PA). The primary goal is to ensure that product designs, technical specifications, and project requirements from US sister companies are accurately and efficiently transferred to the Haiyan, China engineering team, leading to a smooth transition into mass production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Onsite Technical Liaison & Support:
o Serve as the onsite representative for the China engineering team (SAA) in the US, communicating daily with Business Units and engineering teams in Nashua, NH and Valley Green, PA.
o Participate in US-side product design reviews, technical meetings, and project discussions to accurately gather and understand technical requirements, product specifications, test standards, and engineering change information from US customers/internal units.
o Accurately translate, organize, and relay technical documents, drawings, BOMs, and sample requests from the US side back to the Haiyan engineering team, ensuring zero deviation in information.
- Engineering Coordination for Project Transfers:
o Assist project managers by providing engineering support for new projects designated
for transfer to China for mass production.
o Coordinate engineering resources between China and the US to resolve technical issues
during the product transfer process (such as material substitutions, process adaptations,
test method alignment, etc.).
o Track the progress of engineering sample fabrication, testing, and validation, providing
timely feedback to the US side and driving issue closure.
- Problem Solving & Communication Bridge:
o Act as the primary point of contact between the US and China engineering teams,
promptly responding to technical inquiries from the US side and coordinating with the
China engineering team to provide solutions.
o Report technical progress, risks, and issues for cross-site projects to engineering
management in both China and the US on a regular basis.
o Organize and lead cross-time zone technical meetings, follow up on key action items,
and ensure efficient and smooth communication at the engineering level.
- Customer Requirements & Technical Feedback:
o Gather engineering resource requirements for new projects (such as new materials,
special processes, test equipment, etc.) from North American Business Units, summarize
them, and provide timely feedback to China engineering management.
o Participate in technical exchanges with US customers to understand their pain points
and future product trends, providing market input for China's engineering development.
- Onsite Support:
o Provide onsite engineering support at US sister companies (Nashua, NH/Valley Green, PA) as needed to assist in resolving technical issues during trial runs or sample production.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field (Electrical, Mechanical,
Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering).
- Experience: 3+ years of high speed connector experience in engineering technical support,
product development, or manufacturing engineering; experience with project transfers or
cross-border collaboration is preferred.
- Language: Must be bilingual in English and Mandarin is preferred, with the ability to
accurately understand and convey engineering terminology, technical details, and project
information.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with high-speed connectors, cable assemblies, or related
electronic interconnect products' design, processes, and testing is preferred.
- Core Competencies:
o Strong technical comprehension skills, with the ability to quickly read and understand
engineering drawings, specifications, and test reports.
o Excellent cross-cultural communication and coordination skills, with the ability to
effectively connect engineering teams in the US and China.
o Hands-on ability or understanding of manufacturing site processes is a plus.
o Strong problem analysis and resolution skills, capable of handling technical anomalies
independently in a dynamic environment.
o Ability to multitask and shift priorities between multiple projects.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common engineering tools (such as CAD viewers,
PLM systems, etc.).
- Travel: domestically and internationally (including regular trips to the Haiyan factory in China
for face-to-face collaboration, and participation in technology transfers to Vietnam, etc.).
