The Role

Tesla is seeking a Senior Service NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer for our Tesla Energy Service Engineering Team to help scale Energy Service Engineering’s capabilities to monitor, maintain, and upgrade a diverse fleet of Energy Products. Service NPI Engineering drives Tesla’s vision of a future of amazing abundance by integrating advanced serviceability into next-generation product architecture, leveraging automation to maximize uptime, and scaling the infrastructure required to support Tesla’s global Energy and Autonomous platforms. They will be responsible for driving rapid solutions to some of the most challenging problems, collaborating with every aspect of Tesla’s business including but not limited to finance, design engineering, reliability, manufacturing, service operations, material planning, logistics, business analytics, supplier chain and purchasing.

Responsibilities

• Deeply integrate into the early stages of the Product Development Lifecycle. Consolidate complex field service requirements and define Design-for-Serviceability (DfS) specifications—covering serviceability, component interchangeability, and quality optimization—to directly influence and drive engineering input for cross-functional product development teams.
• Leverage AI-driven tools and automation workflows to dynamically detect upstream Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) changes. Intelligently maintain and optimize the Service Bill of Materials (SBOM) based on downstream field service requirements, ensuring high data readability, modularity, and cross-platform scalability.
• Manage the development of processes, tools, and teams that ensure the long term health of the global Tesla Energy products portfolio, including developing service procedures and efficiencies, tooling, data analytics and alerting, workflow development, business processes, remanufacturing, design for manufacturability tradeoffs, and return on investment analysis.
• Drive a sense of urgency and commitment within a cross-functional team, solving complex problems and facilitating solutions across departmental boundaries and even outside of Tesla.
• Track and concisely communicate the process of multiple concurrent projects to diverse audiences;
• Develop, measure, and innovate on processes to efficiently gather and implement feedback from various stakeholders.
• Plan for part and product transitions from service, that include key considerations such as warranty, spares/inventory planning, customer communication, and risk analysis.
• Identify, scope, prioritize, and drive cross functional parties to improve service processes to support the efficient growth of Tesla Energy
• Design and implement improvements to Tesla’s Part Data Management Lifecycle to increase part consumption forecast accuracy, prediction of part failure, and Tesla Service’s ability to measure effectiveness of service actions.
