What they need
Start your healthcare career with the Nurse Aide in Training Program at a Wellsential or Regency skilled nursing facility. This program provides an opportunity to become an employee while receiving paid on-the-job training to prepare for a career as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).
Students receive a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on, floor-based training in a skilled nursing environment. The cost of the required Nurse Aide class and certification testing is covered by Wellsential/Regency at no cost.
Participants are hired as paid employees in a Hospitality Aide role and begin their employment in this role for at least two weeks. This paid introductory experience allows participants to become familiar with the skilled nursing environment, resident needs, daily routines, and the physical and emotional demands of the work while working alongside the care team, and becoming comfortable in the skilled nursing setting before starting the class.
1. Apply & Interview
Apply for a Nurse Aide in Training opportunity at a participating Wellsential or Regency skilled nursing facility. Candidates will participate in an interview process to determine if the position and program are a good fit for both the candidate and the facility.
2. Build Your Foundation
Work as a Hospitality Aide (HA) for at least two weeks to gain experience in a skilled nursing environment and become familiar with resident care, daily routines, and the demands of the role.
3. Get Paid to Learn
After completing the required Hospitality Aide experience, participate in the Nurse Aide training program (Up to 4 weeks), which includes classroom instruction and hands-on, on-the-floor training—all while remaining a paid employee.
4. Become A Certified Nurse Aide and start working in a Regency or Wellsential location
Complete the required training, and pass the state test to become certified.
What Does a Nurse Aide or CNA Do?
Certified Nurse Aides are an important part of the resident care team. Working under the direction of the Charge Nurse, they provide residents with compassionate, respectful assistance with activities of daily living according to each resident’s individualized care plan.
Responsibilities may include assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, mobility, toileting, and other daily needs while helping residents maintain their dignity, independence, comfort, and quality of life.
The best Nurse Aides are compassionate, dependable, patient, and genuinely enjoy helping others. If you are looking for a way to start a career in healthcare, the Nurse Aide in Training program provides an opportunity to learn, gain experience, and build a path toward becoming a Certified Nurse Aide.
