Assisted Living Nurse – Medication Administration & Patient Care

Position Summary

The Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to residents in an assisted living setting. The position is primarily responsible for medication administration, monitoring residents’ health and well-being, providing direct patient care, and communicating changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare providers and responsible parties.

Essential Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely and accurately according to physician/provider orders and facility policies.
• Verify medication orders, dosages, routes, and administration times.
• Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in condition.
• Provide direct nursing care based on each resident’s individual needs and care plan.
• Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and changes in residents’ conditions.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility as needed.
• Perform treatments and nursing procedures within the nurse’s scope of practice and facility policies.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of medications, treatments, assessments, and resident care.
• Notify the appropriate healthcare provider and supervisor of significant changes in a resident’s condition.
• Communicate with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals regarding resident care.
• Coordinate with caregivers and other staff to ensure residents receive appropriate and consistent care.
• Respond appropriately to resident emergencies and follow facility emergency procedures.
• Promote resident safety, dignity, privacy, comfort, and independence.
• Follow infection-control procedures and maintain a safe and clean resident-care environment.
• Assist with new resident admissions, transfers, and discharges as assigned.
• Educate residents and families regarding medications, treatments, care plans, and healthcare needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable assisted living regulations.
• Monitor medication supplies and communicate medication needs to the appropriate staff or pharmacy.
• Complete medication and treatment documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
• Perform other nursing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license appropriate to the position (RN or LPN/LVN).
• Previous experience in assisted living, long-term care, or a similar healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong medication administration and resident-care skills.
• Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to changes in residents’ conditions.
• Ability to accurately document and communicate resident information.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Compassionate, dependable, and professional approach to resident care.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility as needed.
• Ability to bend, reach, lift, and perform other physical tasks associated with resident care.
• Ability to respond promptly to resident needs and emergencies.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
