**About the role

The Nurse Practitioner Candidate - Acute Care Mental Health provides advanced clinical nursing care within Metro North Mental Health - Redcliffe Caboolture, while undertaking supervised training and development toward endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner. Working across acute and community mental health settings, the role supports the delivery of comprehensive, individualised and evidence-based care for consumers experiencing complex mental health needs.

The successful candidate will develop advanced skills in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing and referral under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist and Nurse Practitioner. Through a combination of academic study, clinical supervision and experiential learning, the role contributes to high-quality mental health care, service improvement initiatives, research activities and the ongoing development of contemporary mental health practice.

Provide advanced clinical nursing assessment, diagnosis and treatment for consumers in acute and community mental health settings.
Develop and implement comprehensive management plans that support recovery-focused mental health care.
Apply advanced clinical reasoning and specialist mental health knowledge to manage complex presentations and support multidisciplinary care.
Provide specialist consultation and contribute to the development of clinical practices, processes and patient flow initiatives within mental health services.
Participate in research, quality improvement and ongoing professional development activities that support best-practice mental health care.
