Nurse Practitioner

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our orthopedic clinical research institute as a sub-investigator. In this role, the NP will be responsible for clinical duties in the day-to-day work running clinical research protocols under Principal Investigator (PI), Edward Stolarski, MD - Adult Reconstructive Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in the treatment of hips and knees.

Previous clinical research experience or orthopedic experience is not required. On the job training will be provided to successfully onboard the candidate and will be primarily provided by the Research Director and PI.

There is some flexibility in the position, with the potential for full time or part-time work. The concept would be to have this individual based in the research institute seeing research subjects together with the clinical research coordinators daily.

Training will include Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Human Subject Protection (HSP), Research Ethics, understanding Research Protocols and Investigators Brochures, and assessment of Adverse Events. Additional training will be related to research vs medical norms, including appropriate documentation of research physical exams, medical history, protocol specific assessments, and ongoing oversight of adverse events.

Duties

Duties will vary slightly between research protocols but general consists of the following:

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments, utilizing your physiology knowledge and clinical judgment.
• Collection of Medical and Surgical History for Research Candidates: patient interview/medical record review.
• Assessment of Research Protocol Eligibility: Medical History vs Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria.
• Ongoing assessment of Adverse Events for Enrolled Patients: (severity, causality).
• Ongoing documentation of concomitant medications and supplements through trial participation.
• Reporting of Serious Adverse Events (SAEs) to the Sponsor companies and IRB.
• Sponsor/CRO relations management.

Skills

• Team player able to work as part of a research team to ensure the highest quality clinical research data collection and patient care.
• Extremely professional individual with concierge level social/emotional intelligence who can problem solve and defuse conflicts as a representative of both the researcher managers and PI.
• Strong writing skills/professional email skills for communicating with Nationwide Medical Monitors (Medical Oversight at Sponsor level) as needed.
• Prescribe medications and treatment regimens in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions, including pain management, infectious disease care, and geriatrics.
• Strong proficiency in EMR/EHR systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients on health coaching strategies and treatment plans effectively.

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
