Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews.
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
• Perform advanced procedures such as suturing, IV infusions, catheterizations, spinal taps, and dermal filler injections.
• Manage complex cases involving critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health, and hospice & palliative medicine.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and medical records management.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals across specialties including gastroenterology, infectious disease care, internal medicine, pediatrics, and occupational health.
• Provide patient education on health coaching, medication administration, nutrition, and disease prevention strategies.
• Participate in clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient care standards.
• Assist with triage in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient needs effectively.
• Support discharge planning, utilization review, and case management to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Experience

• Proven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in diverse clinical settings such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities.
• Critical care experience including ICU or Level I & II trauma center exposure is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; telehealth experience is a plus.
• Skilled in performing advanced procedures such as suturing, venipuncture (phlebotomy), catheter care, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques.
• Strong background in managing acute pain cases, infectious diseases, mental health issues including psychiatry or behavioral health services.
• Familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes and ICD coding for diagnoses using ICD-9 or ICD-10 standards.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations such as pediatrics—including infant and toddler care—geriatrics with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease—and individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law and hospice & palliative medicine practices enhances the ability to provide comprehensive patient support.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments like emergency rooms or urgent care centers while maintaining excellent client communication skills.
