What they need

Nurse Practitioner (Mental Health/Eating Disorders)

Esus Centre  |  Full-Time or Two Part-Time Positions Available |  Subiaco, Perth WA

About Esus Centre

Esus Centre is Australia’s first integrated eating disorder day hospital and the first mental health organisation in the world to achieve ICHOM Level 1 Accreditation for outcomes measurement. We provide evidence-based, multidisciplinary care through intensive day programs and outpatient services, with a team of psychiatrists, GPs, psychologists, dietitians, therapists and nurses committed to innovative, patient-centred, outcomes-focused care.

About the Role

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner with a passion for mental health and eating disorder treatment to join our expanding team. This role can be filled by one full-time or two part-time Nurse Practitioners. You’ll step into a supported caseload from day one. Referrals are actively directed to you by our treating team as part of a structured onboarding period (see below).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial outpatient physical and mental health assessments, including patient history, symptom assessment and validated screening tools (e.g. EDE-Q, PHQ-9, GAD-7)

  • Perform mental health status examinations and initiate baseline medical investigations (pathology/ECG)

  • Coordinate structured post-discharge outpatient follow-up, focused on relapse prevention and ongoing patient support

  • Collaborate weekly with GPs and Consultant Psychiatrists on patient management and care coordination

Who We’re Looking For

  • Registered Nurse Practitioner with relevant endorsements

  • Experience in mental health, preferably within eating disorders or related fields

  • Proven capability in comprehensive clinical assessments and outpatient follow-up

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative approach

Onboarding & Support (new)

  • A defined caseload handover in your first weeks, drawn from patients stepping down from our Intensive Treatment Programs and direct referrals from the treating psychiatric team.

  • A named clinical supervision contact and structured 30/60/90-day check-ins through your first quarter

  • Patient- and referrer-facing materials (your introduction, a GP referral guide) prepared before your start date

Benefits of Working with Esus Centre

  • Income protection during onboarding: a guaranteed base for your first three month, with a minimum earnings floor through your ramp period (see Remuneration below)

  • Professional development opportunities within a pioneering, ICHOM-accredited treatment centre

  • Collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team environment

  • Opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking treatment approaches and service innovation

Remuneration and Working Conditions

Flexible working arrangements: full-time (5 days/week) or two part-time roles (2–3 days/week each)

  • Months 1–3: A fixed contractor/management fee of $150/day is payable to Esus Centre, independent of billings, while your caseload is established. Earnings billed above this fee are retained in full by the contractor.
  • Month 4 onward: An attractive contractor arrangement applies, whereby 70% of billed earnings is retained by the contractor, with the remaining 30% payable to Esus Centre as a management fee.
  • After six months, a review will be undertaken to consider transitioning to an employed position — comprising base salary, superannuation, and leave entitlements in place of the contractor split — for candidates who have built and sustained a caseload.
  • Estimated annual gross earnings at full caseload range from $110,400 (2 days/week) to $276,000 (5 days/week). Gross earnings refers to total billed earnings prior to the deduction of any contractor's/management fees, whether the month 1–3 flat fee or the month 4 onward management fee.

*Ramp-period figures are illustrative and to be finalised - see the accompanying compensation framework.

Application Process

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply via Seek with a detailed CV and a cover letter outlining relevant experience and interest in the role.
