Position Overview

St. Louis Vascular Surgical Specialists is seeking a compassionate, motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our vascular surgery team. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work closely with our vascular surgeons and clinical staff to evaluate patients, coordinate treatment, and provide ongoing care for vascular conditions.

This position is ideal for a provider who values teamwork, clinical excellence, and strong patient relationships.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and assessment of vascular symptoms.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the vascular surgeons.
• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, vascular studies, and diagnostic imaging within authorized scope of practice.
• Provide preoperative evaluations, postoperative follow-up, and ongoing management of vascular conditions.
• Care for patients with peripheral arterial disease, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, and chronic wounds.
• Provide wound assessment and treatment, including procedures consistent with training and clinical privileges.
• Educate patients and families about treatment options, medications, compression therapy, risk reduction, and recovery.
• Identify urgent clinical concerns and coordinate timely physician evaluation.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Communicate with referring providers and support continuity of care.
• Travel between practice locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program
• Current national Nurse Practitioner/PA certification appropriate to the patient population and clinical setting.
• Active Missouri advanced practice licensure, or eligibility to obtain before starting.
• Prescriptive authority appropriate to assigned responsibilities.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Strong assessment, communication, organizational, and patient education skills.
• Ability to work independently within established collaborative arrangements and effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in vascular surgery, general surgery, cardiology, wound care, or a related specialty.
• Familiarity with vascular ultrasound reports, anticoagulation management, and postoperative care.
• Experience caring for patients with complex medical conditions.
