Service Title Toddler Nursery Teacher

Ministry Purpose and Responsibilities To provide high quality childcare for toddlers in the church nursery during both morning worship services and the Sunday school hour.

Hours

8:30am-12:30pm (Sunday only)

Salary

$20/hour

Schedule

8:30 Arrive at work, sign in

Gather materials (most are in curriculum closet)

Ø Sign in sheets

Ø Gloves

Ø Activity/art materials for the morning

Ø Snacks

Ø Water pitcher, small cups

Arrange classroom

Ø Place personal items up high and out of reach (including cell phone)

Ø Set up pagers out of reach

Ø Clear a space for diaper bags, etc.

Ø Prepare materials

8:40 Be in room, ready to greet parents

Ø Walk to parent, introduce, shake hands; kneel and greet child

Ø Indoor free play time, engage unhappy children

8:45 – 9:45 Worship Service

8:45 Greet parents and children

Ø Walk to parent, introduce, shake hands; kneel and greet child

Ø Indoor free play time, engage unhappy children

9:10 Indoor activities as needed

9:25 Indoor/Outdoor free play time (weather permitting)

Ø Provide water regularly

9:40 Prepare for some to be picked up/others to be dropped off (may find it helpful to all come in @ 9:40)

Ø Continue with free play time

Ø Be sure children who are picked up have all belongings and leave with appropriate adult

Ø Happy goodbyes! “Hope to see you next week!” “Great to have you today!”

9:50-10:50 Sunday School hour

10:05 Fun activity (Children present at Sunday School will be with you for 2+ hours)

Ø Puppet show, painting with watercolors, coloring, clay creations, dance party, obstacle course, craft, kinetic sand, game

Ø Please select one (1) age-appropriate activities that last 5-10 minutes

Ø Tidy the room! (If ratio is low, one worker can tidy.)

10:20 Indoor or Outdoor free play time (weather permitting)

Ø Provide water regularly

10:50 Prepare for some to be picked up/others to be dropped off (may be helpful to all come in @ 10:45)

Ø Continue with free play time

Ø Be sure children who are picked up have all belongings and leave with appropriate adult

Ø Let parent know something fun the child did

Ø Happy goodbyes! “Hope to see you next week!” “Great to have you today!”

11:00 – 12:00 Worship Service (activities can be same as during early service)

11:00 Greet parents and children

Ø Walk to parent, introduce, shake hands; kneel and greet child

Ø Indoor free play time, engage unhappy children

11:25 Indoor activities as needed.

11:40 Indoor or Outdoor free play time (weather permitting)

Ø Provide water regularly

11:55 Prepare for ALL to be picked up (come indoors @ 11:55)

Ø Children may help with age-appropriate clean up

12:00 Bye bye!

Ø Be sure children who are picked up have all belongings and leave with appropriate adult

Ø Happy goodbyes! “Hope to see you next week!” “Great to have you today!”

After Children Leave

12:05 (or after ALL children are gone)

Ø Tidy toys, indoors and outdoors

Ø Clean and disinfect tables

Ø Clean and disinfect changing table, leave pad up/above changing surface

Ø Remove trash if diapers present (Tie bag and take to outside trash can.)

Ø Tidy any other areas used

Ø Put back any items that were moved up high

Ø Sweep floors

Ø Collect personal items

Ø Place all materials back in curriculum closet where originally found

Ø Email Director if low on supplies or if any other concerns

Ø Sign out, have a great week!

What if I have down time (i.e. no children) during the morning?

§ Tidy!

§ Prepare for the rest of the morning; prepare for next week

Other things to remember

§ Since people enter/exit at all times, please do not leave nursery for more than a few minutes

§ Doors should be shut and locked (ok since window to see in)

§ Safety, welcome, love!!!

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 per week
