Nursery Attendant

First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca is looking for someone to care for our children ages 0-4 during worship 9:30-11:30am (additional hours available on occasion). We need someone who is loving, patient, outgoing and enjoys working with children from infant to toddler age. We expect our attendant to be on site even when there are no children in the nursery. Must be 18 or older and willing to have a background check. You will not be responsible for any religious education with the children, but may be asked to read Christian books aloud.

Responsibilities:

Helping parents transition at drop off (goodbyes are hard for some little ones)

Supporting Potty training/ diaper changing

Playing with children

Offering snack

Ensuring that children are playing safely and practicing good behaviors

Not being distracted by personal technology like internet/game/texting etc. when children are present.

Ensuring children are signed out by their proper guardian

Light cleaning up after the children

Reporting any bumps or incidents to parents and supervisor

May be asked to assist with Sunday School when no nursery children are present

Must be able to climb stairs, lift 15 lbs and be able to communicate with the parents (including text) and children clearly

*First Aid/ CPR training is a bonus

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.0 – 3.0 per week
