About us

Cranbrook Nurseries runs three well-established settings across Crawley and Horley: Clover Court in Maidenbower, and Acorn Cottage and Ivy Cottage in Horley. We care for children aged three months to five years, and good, healthy food is a big part of their day.

About the role

We're looking for one reliable bank chef to cover our nursery kitchens as and when we need extra support, for example during holiday, sickness or busy periods. This isn't a fixed contract. You'll be offered shifts based on your availability and location preference. Shifts are weekday daytime only, with no evenings or weekends.

What you'll be doing

• Stepping into a nursery kitchen at short notice and getting up to speed quickly
• Preparing and cooking nutritious meals and snacks for babies, toddlers and pre-school children
• Following the nursery's menus and adapting to children's dietary needs, allergies and weaning stages
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safe food storage
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, and completing food safety and temperature records
• Managing stock and letting the nursery manager know when supplies are running low
• Working closely with nursery staff so meals are ready on time
• Following the same safeguarding practices as our permanent staff

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a nursery kitchen
• Good knowledge of allergens and special dietary requirements
• Reliability and good communication when confirming or picking up shifts
• Willingness to travel between our Crawley and Horley nurseries

Pay: Up to £18.00 per hour
