The Successful Applicant:

The successful applicant will be an inspirational, warm, and emotionally intelligent Early Years leader who combines outstanding pedagogical practice with a genuine passion for nurturing young minds. Holding a minimum of a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (with senior leadership qualifications or independent sector experience being highly desirable), you will possess a deep, up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework and a steadfast commitment to safeguarding and child welfare. As an approachable and articulate communicator, you will excel at motivating staff and building trusting, collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues across the school. Crucially, you will blend educational excellence with strong commercial and marketing awareness—acting as a proactive ambassador for Saint Nicholas School to drive Nursery occupancy, deliver engaging prospective parent visits, and ensure Rocking Horse Nursery remains a vibrant, flourishing part of our wider school community.

The Position:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Nursery Manager to lead Rocking Horse Nursery at Saint Nicholas School on a full-time, year-round basis (40 hours per week). Reporting directly to the Headmaster and Senior Leadership Team, you will hold overall operational, pedagogical, and strategic responsibility for our vibrant nursery setting. In this pivotal role, you will champion an ambitious EYFS curriculum, serve as the Nursery’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), and inspire a dedicated team of early years practitioners to deliver outstanding pastoral support and early learning. Beyond daily operations, you will play an active role in the wider life and ethos of Saint Nicholas School, leading on nursery marketing, prospective parent engagement, and admissions strategy to maintain robust occupancy, drive smooth transitions into Pre-school, and ensure the commercial sustainability of our early years provision.

Terms & Conditions:

Contract Details: Full time, Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week - 8 hour per day on a shift basis to suit the operational needs of Rocking Horse Nursery (between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday)
