We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and caring Nursery Manager to join Shanklin Day Nursery and lead our team during a period of maternity cover.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nursery Manager, or a confident Deputy Manager ready to take their next step, to lead an established nursery, develop their career and make a real difference to our children, families and team.

You won’t be doing it alone. Our Nursery Manager works closely alongside our Operational Manager, providing ongoing support, guidance and a strong management partnership. You’ll also be joining an experienced and supportive nursery team, giving you the confidence to bring your own ideas and leadership style to the role.

While this role is initially for 12 months to provide maternity cover, we are growing and there may be opportunities for the right person to continue their career with us afterwards.

The role

As Nursery Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and smooth running of the nursery, including:

• Leading, supporting and motivating our nursery team
• Maintaining excellent standards of safeguarding and child protection
• Ensuring high-quality EYFS practice throughout the setting
• Supporting staff development, supervision and wellbeing
• Building strong, positive relationships with children and families
• Ensuring Ofsted and statutory requirements are consistently met
• Supporting recruitment and effective staff deployment
• Managing occupancy and the operational needs of the nursery
• Driving continuous improvement and maintaining a happy, positive nursery environment

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

• Holds a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
• Has strong experience working within an early years setting
• Has previous management, deputy management or significant leadership experience
• Has excellent knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
• Is confident in leading, motivating and developing a team
• Is organised, approachable and able to make confident decisions
• Builds strong relationships with children, families and colleagues
• Is passionate about creating an environment where children and staff can thrive
