Position Overview

Northside Church is seeking a caring, dependable, and Christ-centered Nursery Worker to serve our youngest children and their families. The Nursery Worker helps create a safe, loving, and welcoming environment where infants and toddlers are cared for with excellence and shown the love of Jesus.

This role is more than providing childcare—it is an opportunity to serve families, support parents, and help lay a foundation for a child’s faith journey from the very beginning.

Responsibilities

• Provide loving, attentive, and age-appropriate care for infants and toddlers while they are in the church nursery.
• Create a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, secure, valued, and loved.
• Supervise children closely and follow all Northside Church Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures.
• Engage children through age-appropriate play, books, music, prayer, and simple Bible-based activities.
• Meet the individual needs of each child, including diapering, feeding, comforting, and nap/rest time as needed.
• Partner with parents by communicating warmly and respectfully about their child’s time in the nursery.
• Be attentive to children’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting nursery environment.
• Follow proper procedures for check-in/check-out, attendance, allergies, medical needs, and emergency situations.
• Report any safety, health, or child-protection concerns according to church policies and applicable laws.
• Work cooperatively with nursery volunteers, children’s ministry staff, and other church leaders.
• Pray for and serve the children and families entrusted to your care.
• Represent Northside Church with a positive, welcoming, and Christ-centered attitude.

Qualifications

• A genuine love for Jesus and a desire to serve children and families through the ministry of the church.
• A caring, patient, dependable, and trustworthy nature.
• Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, or young children is preferred.
• Ability to provide attentive supervision and respond appropriately to children’s needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with parents, volunteers, and ministry staff.
• Willingness to follow Northside Church Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures.
• CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
• Experience caring for children with additional needs is a plus.
• Must meet all Northside Church requirements for serving in children’s ministry, including background screening and required training.

Our Ministry Purpose

We believe that ministry begins from the very beginning of a child’s life. Every diaper changed, bottle given, story read, song sung, and tear comforted is an opportunity to show a child and their family the love of Jesus.

As a Nursery Worker, you are helping create a place where children are known, loved, safe, and welcomed while giving parents the opportunity to worship, grow, and serve.

We are looking for someone who sees nursery ministry not simply as childcare, but as an important part of the mission of the church—to grow in community, learn God’s truth, and share God’s love.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 per week
