Nursing Assistant - Intermediate Care Unit

Role Overview: Provides direct patient care under RN supervision, including activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, and transporting patients. Ensures a safe, clean, and organized environment, maintains supplies and equipment, and supports patient nourishment and communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care tasks, safety checks, and equipment management.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team, support workplace safety, and foster professional relationships.
• Participate in department activities, respond to call lights, and support diversion activities to prevent restraint use.
• Document patient information and perform clerical duties as needed.
• Perform core nursing assistant duties, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and intra-hospital transport.
• Adhere to safety policies, standard precautions, and bloodborne pathogen procedures.
• Respond to emergent situations within the scope of practice and provide patient companionship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; completion of nursing assistant training program.
• Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred).
• CPR/BLS certification and Act 34 clearance required.
