What they need
Make a real difference. Join our team at Tui Medical!
About us
Tui Medical is a leading primary healthcare provider in the Waikato, operating seven General Practice clinics and two Urgent Care clinics. As both Urgent Care and Cornerstone Accredited, we are committed to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare to communities.
We believe great patient care starts with great people. That's why we foster a supportive, collaborative, and inclusive workplace where professional development, wellbeing, and teamwork are valued.
About the role
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Nursing Services Coordinator to provide clinical leadership of our nursing and urgent care services. Working alongside the Medical Director and Practice Manager, you'll lead by example on the clinical floor. You will be coordinating patient flow, driving continuous improvement, and demonstrating a high level of clinical skill as a senior nurse.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance patient care with coordination, quality improvement, and team development - mentoring nursing staff, coordinating ongoing nurse education, and maintaining the clinic's accreditation from a clinical perspective. You'll bring professionalism, sensitivity, respect and confidentiality to every interaction with patients and colleagues.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinate daily nursing workflow, including triage, patient flow and allocation of nursing resources according to acuity and demand.
- Act as the first point of escalation for the nursing team on clinical matters during shifts.
- Maintain a clinical caseload, providing triage, assessment, treatment and follow-up care within your RN scope of practice.
- Drive clinical quality, audit and service improvement in partnership with the Medical Director, Practice Manager and Quality Coordinator.
- Ensure compliance with Urgent Care, Foundation and Cornerstone Standards and RNZCGP requirements.
- Support orientation, appraisals, competencies and ongoing professional development for nursing staff.
- Provide visible, positive leadership on the clinic floor and model the company vision and values.
- Maintain health, safety and wellbeing, including the Risk/Hazard register and infection control practices.
- Apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to support health equity.
What you'll bring
- Current Nursing Council registration and Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Minimum 5 years' nursing experience in an Urgent Care or General Practice setting.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Charge Nurse or Nursing Services Coordinator.
- Proficient or Expert PDRP level (or Merit Level 1/2 equivalent).
- Relevant RN certificates (cervical smears, immunisations, B4 Schools) plus proven competence in triage, wound care, casting and IV access — and the ability to train the clinical team.
- Preceptor certification.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, a calm and consistent approach, and a genuine commitment to excellence.
Why join Tui Medical?
You'll join a supportive, values-driven organisation where you'll have the opportunity to lead with purpose, influence positive change, and make a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of our communities.
We also offer:
- Free onsite parking
- Southern Cross healthcare benefits
- Exclusive discounts across the Tui Group
- Professional development and leadership opportunities
