Nutrition Assistant

"You are what you eat"--this is especially true for young children, who need healthy, delicious food in order to learn and grow. Knox County Head Start provides Early Childhood Education using a holistic approach that recognizes we must meet the needs of the whole child. To that end, we are looking for a high energy, enthusiastic Nutrition Assistant to help prepare two meals and one snack daily for up to 100 children as well as adult lunches when requested. The Nutrition Assistant will assist with food preparation, packing food items for off-site centers, set-up of food carts for local classrooms, maintain proper storage and inventory of all food materials, wash dishes and cooking utensils, clean and sanitize work areas, and other duties as required. This position requires a high school diploma or GED and a Serve Safe certification. We will provide Serve Safe training for the right candidate. This is a physcial job that requires long periods of standing and lifting and carrying items up and down stairs.

The most important qualification for any Knox County Head Start employee is a deep love for working with children and families, a commitment to providing high-quality services, and energy to spare. If you take pride in the quality and presentation of the food you prepare and want to share that with the children we serve, we'd like to talk with you!
