What they need

Shape the Future of Animal Health

Advancing the health of animals with those who care for them every day, so we can all live better together: this is our purpose. Founded over 50 years ago in France, Virbac offers veterinarians, farmers, and pet owners in more than 100 countries a comprehensive and practical range of products and services. With a proud history in New Zealand spanning over 30 years, we are one of the fastest-growing companies in the local industry—and a certified Great Place to Work®.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly credentialed, passionate Nutrition Technical Manager to serve as our resident subject matter expert for companion animal pet nutrition. Reporting directly to local leadership and collaborating closely with our global and regional teams, you will play a pivotal role bridging technical, marketing, and commercial execution across New Zealand. In this strategic and hands-on role, you will lead the scientific communication strategy, drive innovation through product development, and act as the technical backbone for our sales, marketing, and veterinary services team. You will also serve as a key ambassador for Virbac, engaging with veterinary key opinion leaders (KOLs) and industry organisations to elevate our pet nutrition portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific & Technical Leadership: Serve as the companion animal nutrition lead, providing expert case consultations, developing internal technical resources, and partnering with our Pharmacovigilance, Safety, and Consulting teams.

Sales Enablement & Training: Collaborate with sales training to build high-impact learning materials. Deliver compelling presentations at regional and national customer-facing continuing education events, while empowering our sales and marketing teams with evidence-based data.

Innovation & Portfolio Management: Work cross-functionally with Global R&D, and global marketing to oversee product lifecycles, and potentially assist in clinical trial design for specific product claims.

Marketing & Strategic Alignment: Partner with marketing to develop scientifically sound, customer-facing education and promotional materials, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment across all channels.

KOL & Industry Outreach: Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders, veterinary nutrition organisations, and industry bodies, representing Virbac at conventions, symposiums, and webinars.

About You

To thrive in this role, you bring a strong clinical foundation combined with the commercial curiosity and communication skills to translate complex veterinary science into actionable insights.

  • You hold a BVSc or similar.
  • You bring a minimum of 5 years of clinical nutrition experience. Prior experience in the animal health industry, pet food sector, or veterinary channel is advantageous.
  • You have a proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D).
  • You are an engaging presenter and articulate communicator, capable of delivering continuing education to veterinary professionals and external stakeholders.
  • You possess sound technical intelligence, with the ability to scout opportunities and market trends in the nutrition segment.

Why You’ll Love Working with Virbac

Every day, you will contribute to improving the lives of animals alongside people who share your passion.

Join a dynamic, diverse, and driven team that truly values inclusion, mutual support, and well-being. We are a certified Great Place to Work® and proudly partner with Southern Cross Health Insurance and EAP Services to support our people.

We will set you up for success with an environment and culture dedicated to continuous improvement and individual development. We offer an attractive remuneration package—including a competitive base salary, corporate benefits, and a company vehicle. We also provide all the tools to get the job done—including a laptop, phone, and ongoing training—to help you grow your career within one of New Zealand's fastest-growing animal health companies.
