Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented OBGYN coder and biller to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing for obstetrics and gynecology services, ensuring compliance with medical coding guidelines and insurance requirements. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency of our revenue cycle management, medical record accuracy, and insurance claim processing. Responsibilities

• Review medical records, clinical documentation, and provider notes to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes for obstetrics and gynecology procedures and diagnoses
• Ensure accurate coding in accordance with current medical coding guidelines, including inpatient and outpatient services
• Prepare and submit insurance claims using billing software and EMR/EHR systems, verifying all necessary information is complete and compliant
• Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems for billing, coding, and record keeping to streamline revenue cycle processes
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims with third-party payers to facilitate timely payment and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain thorough documentation of coding decisions, claim statuses, and correspondence related to medical billing processes
• Stay updated on changes in health insurance policies, coding standards, and medical terminology relevant to obstetrics and gynecology

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical coding and billing within an OB-GYN or related healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, including coding for inpatient services and procedures
• Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications used for hospital reimbursement
• Proficiency with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and electronic health record management for billing purposes
• Solid understanding of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing practices, and revenue cycle management
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical records accurately
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding guidelines
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with healthcare providers and administrative staff
