OBSv2 to AWS S3 Migration Platform Engineer

Role Summary

Design, build, and operate a secure, scalable AWS-based platform to migrate object data from OBSv2 to AWS S3, ensuring reliable execution, automation, governance, monitoring, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration workflows from OBSv2 source buckets to AWS S3 destination buckets.
• Build AWS orchestration using Step Functions, Lambda, Fargate, AWS Batch, DynamoDB, SQS, and rclone.
• Support manifest-based and dynamic migrations, including batching, sharding, task sizing, and retries.
• Implement bandwidth allocation, queue management, prioritization, throttling, and job tracking.
• Establish observability using CloudWatch dashboards, logs, metrics, alerts, health checks, and progress reporting.
• Support secure multi-account deployments, IAM controls, privacy safeguards, testing, performance tuning, and production cutover.

Expected Deliverables

• Production-ready migration platform supporting manifest and no-manifest workflows.
• Centralized governance for bandwidth control, queue processing, throttling, and completion reporting.
• Reusable rclone-based migration runtime with progress reporting and dynamic throttling.
• DynamoDB-backed job, task, queue, bandwidth, and summary state management.
• CloudWatch dashboards, alarms, runbooks, deployment automation, and operational documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Dell ECS, OBSv2, or other S3-compatible enterprise object storage platforms.
• Experience delivering large-scale migrations in regulated production environments.
• Experience with hub-and-spoke architectures across multiple AWS accounts.
• Strong technical documentation and leadership-level reporting skills.

Domain Knowledge and Core Competencies

• Understanding of large-scale object migration patterns, including manifests, prefix-based partitioning, batching, and validation.
• Ability to optimize migration performance across data volume, object count, compute resources, network capacity, and rclone concurrency.
• Knowledge of bandwidth allocation, throttling, queue management, retries, and escalation strategies.
• Strong operational discipline across monitoring, runbooks, restart procedures, completion checks, and stakeholder reporting.
• Ability to maintain clear architecture documentation, technical specifications, implementation details, and support procedures.
