OCC Space Operator (4 month contract)

Under supervision of OCC Management, the OCC Satellite Operator performs commanding, monitoring and troubleshooting of the Globalstar Satellite Constellation. The OCC Satellite Operator will utilize various Satellite Operation Control Center software’s to ensure the health and safety of the constellation. Having outstanding interpersonal and communication skills that allow operators to work efficiently with other team members is a key aspect of this role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Learn the components, functions, and interfaces of the Globalstar Satellite Constellation.
• Monitor and control the Globalstar Satellite Constellation using the Satellite Operation Control Center Software.
• Use experience, trending analysis, and external input to prevent or minimize system outages.
• Isolate and assist with any issues in a timely manner and document all activities with the “JIRA” ticketing system.
• Work with Gateway Engineering, Satellite Engineering, System Engineering, Information Technology, and other Globalstar departments to ensure successful operations.
• Assist in drafting and maintaining operations procedures, training materials, and other documents.
• Complete all required training and certifications within the prescribed timeframe.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Problem solving skills
• Familiarity with software languages is preferred (Python, SQL, Java, etc.)

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
• Experience with PowerBi, Grafana or other data visualization tools
• Experience in Satellite Operations preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Flexible shift schedule to support 24/7/365 network operations
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed
• Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
• Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
• Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
• Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
