What they need

Most people never think twice about the air they breathe at work, the noise around them, or what's on their hands at the end of a shift.

Occupational Hygienists think about it constantly.

At GCG, we use science, data and fieldwork to help organisations understand and control workplace exposures — protecting the health of workers across mining, construction, manufacturing and defence.

We're growing our Perth team and looking for someone dependable, motivated and comfortable moving between office work and heavy industrial sites. Whether you're just starting out or already have a few years behind you, attitude and work ethic matter most to us.

About GCG

GCG is one of Australia's leading occupational hygiene and workplace health consultancies, helping organisations build safer, healthier and more compliant workplaces.

With teams across the country, we partner with clients in construction, mining, energy, infrastructure and government. Our work centres on measuring, understanding and managing workplace health risks — airborne contaminants, noise exposure, hazardous substances and other environmental factors that affect worker wellbeing.

Our Perth office is collaborative and growing fast. People here are encouraged to ask questions, learn quickly and take ownership of their own development. We put real weight behind mentoring and knowledge sharing, because we're building long-term careers in occupational hygiene, not filling seats.

What the Role Looks Like

No two weeks are the same. In any given one, you might be:

  • Monitoring dust, chemicals, noise and vibration on industrial sites
  • Setting up sampling equipment and collecting exposure data
  • Running respirator and hearing protection fit testing
  • Completing site inspections and exposure assessments
  • Analysing monitoring results and helping pull reports together
  • Travelling to client sites across WA (up to 14 days per month)

You'll spend a good deal of your time in heavy industry environments, so you'll need to be comfortable on a variety of client sites, able to work independently, organised with your own time, and a clear communicator with all kinds of stakeholders.

Depending on your experience, you'll either work alongside our experienced hygienists or take the lead on smaller projects yourself.

Why Join GCG

We invest heavily in developing our hygienists. You'll receive:

  • Competitive salary package
  • Employee Benefits Package
  • Paid birthday leave
  • Structured mentoring from experienced hygienists
  • Exposure to major projects across multiple industries
  • Support for professional development and AIOH membership
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • A supportive, down-to-earth team culture

About You

You might be:

  • A graduate or early-career professional curious about occupational hygiene
  • Someone with a background in heavy industry, mining, construction, manufacturing or defence
  • Someone with 1–5 years in occupational hygiene, WHS, environmental monitoring or workplace health

And you're likely:

  • Genuinely interested in science and workplace safety
  • Happy in the field, in the office, and on the road around Australia
  • Detail-oriented and organised
  • A strong communicator who enjoys learning
  • Self-motivated, practical and hands-on when it comes to solving problems
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments
  • Willing to learn, even if the technical knowledge isn't all there yet
  • Professional with clients and site personnel

Bonus Points For

  • A degree in science, occupational hygiene, WHS, environmental health or a related field
  • AIOH membership, or eligibility for it
  • Experience with industrial monitoring equipment

Technical skills can be taught. Work ethic, reliability and initiative are what make the difference.
