What they need
- Assess patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and developmental abilities.
- Identify difficulties affecting daily living, work, school, and social participation.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patients’ needs and goals.
- Provide therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, mobility, cognition, and functional skills.
- Train patients in activities of daily living such as dressing, eating, grooming, and personal care.
- Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and environmental modifications when appropriate.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on treatment strategies and home programs.
- Monitor and document patients’ progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, teachers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with professional and healthcare standards.
