Occupational Therapist | Part-time | Charlestown NSW (Newcastle and Hunter)

THE ROLE

This is primarily a paediatric occupational therapy caseload within our multidisciplinary clinic at Charlestown. You will have rooms, an in-house assessment and therapy resource library, administrative support, and colleagues from other disciplines to consult.

Presentations across the caseload include:

• Developmental and coordination difficulties
• Sensory processing and regulation
• Fine and gross motor skills, handwriting and school participation
• Self-care, daily living skills and school readiness
• Executive functioning and emotional regulation
• Play and social participation
• Autism and ADHD

Most sessions are in clinic, with some online sessions, school visits or home visits as required. Clients are funded through the NDIS, Medicare and private payment, so functional assessment and report writing sit alongside direct intervention.

Opportunities are also available to work with adolescents and adults, depending on your experience, interests and scope of practice. This may include functional capacity assessment, daily living skills, environmental and equipment recommendations, and intervention to support independence and participation across home and community settings.

FLEXIBLE HOURS

The role is part-time, with the days and times agreed with you and scope to grow as the caseload builds. We offer both employment and contractor arrangements.

ABOUT EDUCARE

Educare Specialist Services has provided multidisciplinary care in Charlestown since 1999, across psychiatry, psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy and behaviour support. Educare is an accredited NDIS provider, and its sister service Mind-Care provides adolescent and adult mental health care.

ABOUT YOU

Essential:

• General registration as an occupational therapist with AHPRA
• Experience in paediatric occupational therapy assessment and intervention, or relevant paediatric clinical placement experience for early career applicants
• Working knowledge of NDIS and Medicare, including reporting requirements
• Clear report writing, and a warm and professional manner with families, schools and referrers
• Current First Aid Certificate, Working with Children Check, National Police Check and driver's licence

Desirable:

• Experience working with adolescents and/or adults, including functional capacity assessment, daily living and community participation
• Experience writing NDIS plan review, functional and equipment reports
• Experience in mentoring or supervising others
