What they need

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

ADEC ( Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities Inc. ) is a Victorian not-for-profit organisation that advocates for and supports people with disability and older people from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as their families and carers.

Established in 1982, ADEC provides a range of disability advocacy, disability support, aged care, NDIS and community support services. We are committed to empowering people, reducing inequality and building inclusive and connected communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join ADEC’s Aged and Disability Services (ADS) team to deliver high-quality Occupational Therapy services, with a primary focus on clients accessing the Support at Home (SAH) program.

This newly created role offers you the opportunity to influence how our Occupational Therapy service evolves and contribute to its ongoing development. Working collaboratively with Clinical Care Partners, clients and their support networks, you’ll use your clinical expertise to promote independence, safety and meaningful participation in daily life.

This is a full-time position, with part-time job-sharing arrangements also considered for the right candidates.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions across SAH, NDIS and fee-for-service (FFS) funding models.
  • Assess client needs and recommend assistive technology, home modifications and strategies to support independent living.
  • Manage a small SAH caseload, complete internal OT referrals and provide backup support for SAH intake and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, Clinical Care Partners and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate person-centred care.
  • Prepare timely clinical reports, assessments and funding documentation in line with program requirements.
  • Manage client resources and expenditure within approved budgets, meeting service targets and maintaining quality outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records, comply with privacy and funding requirements, and contribute to clinical quality improvement and service development.

What we offer:

  • Above-award remuneration recognising your skills and experience.
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging benefits.
  • Portable Long Service Leave benefits.
  • Additional paid Christmas leave.
  • Study leave and access to Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and clinical growth.
  • Meaningful work with a community-focused organisation.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current registration with the AHPRA and at least five years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Recent experience as an Occupational Therapist, with knowledge of aged care and disability services.
  • Experience providing individualised assessments and interventions, with a commitment to evidence-based, person-centred practice.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology, home modifications and strategies to promote independence.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, report-writing and organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads, meet targets and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families and multidisciplinary teams, while delivering culturally responsive services.
  • Current First Aid certificate, driver's licence and willingness to travel to client locations, where required.
  • Experience with SAH, NDIS or other relevant funding models.
  • Experience coordinating assistive technology and home modifications.
  • Understanding of aged care funding, client budgets and community-based services.

How to Apply:

Please submit a current resume and cover letter that demonstrates your experience and why this role is a good fit for you. Please note that applications without cover letters will not be considered for this role.
