Occupational Therapist/OT Assistant

Position Summary:
Part Time or Full Time options!

The OT will provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to preschool-aged children in Jefferson and/or Lewis Counties. This professional will work closely with teachers, families, and colleagues to implement individualized goals and help ensure each child reaches their full potential.

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the OTA will assist in delivering direct therapy services to preschool-aged children in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Services will be provided within the classroom and/or one-on-one, depending on the child’s needs.

Responsibilities Include:

• Creating treatment plans and goals in accordance with the student's IEP
• Implementing treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OTA)
• Supporting children with fine motor, sensory, and self-help skill development
• Collaborating with teachers and staff to embed OT strategies into classroom routines
• Documenting progress and assisting in preparation of reports and updates for IEP reviews
• Assisting in maintaining therapy materials and creating adaptive supports for classroom use
• Participating in team meetings, CPSE conferences, and parent communications as needed

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by ACOTE or registered by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
• Licensure: Current New York State license (or eligibility for licensure) as an Occupational Therapist.
• Associate's Degree from an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant Program (OTA)
• Experience with young children, preferably in an early childhood or educational setting
• Familiarity with IEPs and the special education process
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• A passion for child development and inclusive education
