Odoo Solution Architect – Technical, Information Technology

We are looking for an experienced Odoo Solution Architect – Technical who will be responsible for designing, developing, customizing, integrating, and technically governing Odoo solutions to meet complex business and country-specific requirements. The role will have a strong technical orientation (Technical and Functional). The incumbent will work closely with business and functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and maintainable Odoo solutions. This role is particularly important in environments where standard Odoo functionality does not fully address local business requirements, such as finance, procurement, inventory, HR, accounting, regulatory requirements, and local operational workflows .

Functional Responsibilities

1. Solution Architecture & Technical Design

• Design end-to-end Odoo solution architecture aligned with business, technical, security and integration requirements.
• Evaluate standard Odoo capabilities and determine where configuration, customization, custom modules or integrations are required.
• Define technical architecture, module structure, integration patterns, data models, and deployment approaches.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and upgrade-friendly.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide architectural guidance to development teams.

2. Odoo Development & Customization

• Develop and customize Odoo modules using Python, XML, JavaScript, Owl, QWeb , and related technologies.
• Extend standard Odoo functionality to address organization-specific and country-specific requirements.
• Develop custom workflows, reports, dashboards, business logic, and user interfaces.
• Customize areas such as: Accounting & Finance, Taxation, HR & Payroll, Inventory & Supply Chain, CRM, Sales & Purchase, Local regulatory and operational requirements.

3. Integration & API Development

• Design and implement integrations between Odoo and external enterprise systems.
• Develop and consume REST APIs, web services, and other integration interfaces .
• Integrate Odoo with ERP, banking, payment, HR, procurement, CRM, identity, and other enterprise platforms.
• Design reliable integration mechanisms including authentication, error handling, logging, monitoring, and reconciliation.
• Ensure data consistency and integrity across integrated systems.

4. Functional Requirement Analysis

• Work with business and functional teams to understand business processes and requirements.
• Translate functional requirements into appropriate Odoo technical solutions.
• Identify gaps between standard Odoo functionality and local business requirements .
• Recommend whether a requirement should be addressed through configuration, customization, workflow changes, or integration.
• Participate in requirement analysis, solution workshops, UAT, and production implementation.

5. Localization & Country-Specific Requirements

• Analyze and implement country-specific requirements that are not adequately supported by standard Odoo.
• Develop solutions for local tax, finance, accounting, HR, compliance, and operational processes .
• Ensure localization solutions are maintainable and compatible with future Odoo upgrades.

6. Technical Governance & Quality

• Establish development standards, coding practices, and technical guidelines for Odoo implementations.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to Odoo development best practices.
• Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and scalability concerns.
• Ensure proper documentation of architecture, integrations, custom modules, and technical decisions.
• Support version upgrades, migration, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting.

7. Team Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to Odoo developers and technical consultants.
• Review technical designs and development approaches.
• Collaborate with vendors, implementation partners, and internal technology teams.
• Conduct technical knowledge-sharing sessions and establish reusable development patterns.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology.
• At least 3 years of relevant software development/ERP experience , including significant hands-on Odoo experience.
• Strong experience in Odoo technical architecture, customization, and integration.
• Experience working with business stakeholders, functional consultants, and implementation teams.
• Experience in enterprise-grade application development will be an advantage.

Technical Skills & Expertise

Mandatory:

• Strong hands-on experience with Odoo development and customization .
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Strong understanding of Odoo framework and architecture.
• Experience with: Owl, QWeb, XML, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, Odoo ORM, Odoo security/access control.
• Strong experience in REST API and system integration .
• Experience developing custom Odoo modules.
• Strong understanding of database design and data modeling.
• Experience with Git and software development lifecycle practices.

Preferred:

• Experience with Odoo Enterprise and/or Community editions.
• Experience with Odoo version migration and upgrades.
• Experience with Docker, Linux, CI/CD, or cloud/on-premise deployment.
• Experience with enterprise integration platforms.
• Experience with performance optimization and high-volume transactional systems.
• Knowledge of microservices and modern integration architecture.

Functional Knowledge

The candidate should have sufficient functional understanding to analyze and translate business requirements, particularly in:
