About the Humane Society of El Paso

The Humane Society of El Paso (HSEP) is a locally governed, community-supported nonprofit with over 70 years of service. We shelter and care for homeless animals, promote adoption, educate the public, and advocate for responsible pet guardianship.

Position Summary

The Off-Site Associate manages adoption events, maintains retail adoption locations (Petco, PetSmart), supports community outreach, and provides exceptional customer service to adopters. Serve as a public representative for HSEP’s mission and services.

Key Responsibilities

Off-Site Adoptions

· Run off-site adoption events, including transporting animals and supplies.

· Act as event lead, overseeing volunteers.

· Prepare adoption paperwork, process fees, and provide adopter support.

Retail Cats

· Maintain retail adoption locations: clean enclosures, restock supplies, update animal information.

· Ensure animal health needs are met, including administration of vaccines.

Other Duties

· Complete required reports.

· Participate in staff meetings, training, and events.

· Support other HSEP programs and special projects.

· Entails the operation of a large vehicle for the purpose of fulfilling job-related responsibilities and assignments.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· 1 year animal handling experience.

· Valid Texas driver’s license.

· Valid Auto insurance.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office.

· Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying climates.

Preferred:

· Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Skills & Competencies

· Dependable, ethical, and team oriented.

· Comfortable working with animals of all sizes and temperaments.

· Strong communication and outreach abilities.

Schedule

· Must be flexible, and available to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions and Requirements
Work is conducted in an animal shelter environment and may involve exposure to elevated noise levels, zoonotic diseases, animal bites, and scratches. Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors, with potential contact with cleaning agents and other chemical substances. The role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of up to eight (8) hours per day. Regular lifting of 25–50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation as required by law, is an essential function of this position.
